Facebook has changed its name to Meta

A little about the conference at which they announced the renaming of Facebook to Meta ;)

American media mogul Mark Zuckerberg at the Facebook Connect conference, as everyone expected, announced a change in the name of Facebook. From yesterday it will be called Meta.

 

The owner says that Facebook now has ambitions to be associated not with the social network, but with the "metaverse" - the so-called virtual world in which they want to combine all available devices and technologies.

The main goal of such a metaverse ambition is to connect people and help them in their relationship with each other. Now in the new, so-called virtual world, we will be able to communicate in the form of avatars, and all information (text, pictures, objects, and so on) from the real world will be seen in the form of holograms.

The new company Meta will not stop working on the projects of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, only in parallel with this it will develop the "metaverse".

1. Mark Zuckerberg shared his vision of the metaverse back in the middle of summer 2021. As he suggests and expects, the future of the metaverse is an alternative to the classical internet.
2. In October, the corporation shared plans that it would hire about 10,000 new employees in Europe to develop "the metaverse".

So, we are slowly but surely moving towards scenarios that we once saw in science fiction films. Whether this is good or bad, only time will tell.
